A Kentucky woman named Cook had a craving for an apple pie from McDonald's and went to order one. However, when she paid and got to the window, they told her they didn't have apple pies in stock that day.

Instead of offering a refund or alternative solution, the worker at the window told Cook that they couldn't physically do a refund because their boss had instructed them not to give refunds at their location.

Cook was shocked and asked for either the product or her money back. The worker then walked away, leaving Cook at the window.

A second worker came to the window and asked if Cook needed a refund. Cook replied that she did, but the first worker intervened again, telling the second worker that they weren't allowed to give refunds.

The workers abandoned Cook at the window, unaware that they were calling the police on her. When police arrived, Cook spoke with an officer who took her information and told her it was a 'civil matter', meaning there wasn't anything they could do about it.
