Rory McIlroy's attention will be elsewhere by Sunday evening as the Amgen Irish Open concludes, but he is eager for his friend Shane Lowry to secure a historic win at the event. McIlroy finished the tournament with a score of one-under par after a final round of 67.

Despite being distracted, having flown in on Saturday morning and leaving early due to family commitments, McIlroy was enthusiastic about Lowry's chances, saying 'it would be an amazing way to end the week' if he emerged victorious.

The reigning Masters champion recalled offering words of encouragement to Lowry after a disappointing season so far. McIlroy noted that even in his own struggles, he had learned to bounce back from setbacks and encouraged Lowry to do the same.
