Mental Health Company Settles Class Action Lawsuit for $3 Million
A publicly traded mental health services company, LifeStance Health, has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit for $3 million.
The lawsuit stems from allegations that between March 2020 and April 2023, LifeStance's website used third-party tracking technologies to send personal information on users to Meta and Google for the purpose of serving custom ads.
According to the complaint, this tracking captured sensitive information such as IP addresses, browsing history, and what users typed into search fields, potentially revealing personal details about their mental health diagnosis or treatment.
LifeStance has agreed to discontinue use of these trackers on its website but does not admit to any wrongdoing.
