Merck Lands Exclusive Global License for Cancer Treatment SPR2015

Merck & Co Inc (NYSE: MRK) has secured an exclusive global license for SPR2015, an oral KRAS G12D inhibitor. The company completed a licensing agreement with SciBrunch Therapeutics for the drug, which targets the KRAS G12D mutation found in several cancers, including pancreatic and colorectal cancer.

The deal gives Merck exclusive rights to develop and commercialize SPR2015, with an upfront payment of $400 million and potential milestone payments that could bring the total deal value to $2.13 billion. This strategic move positions Merck to potentially capture a lucrative market segment in precision oncology, complementing its existing blockbuster Keytruda franchise.

MERCK's pharmaceutical segment is anchored by Keytruda, which generated $31.7 billion in sales in 2025. The company reported total sales of $66.3 billion trailing twelve months (TTM) and continues to invest heavily in pipeline expansion to offset patent expirations.
