Merck Secures Up to $2.13B Deal for Preclinical Cancer Drug SPR2015
Pharmaceutical giant Merck & Co., Inc. (NYSEMRK) has closed a licensing deal with SciBrunch Therapeutics Co., Ltd. for the preclinical KRAS G12D cancer drug, SPR2015.
The agreement grants Merck exclusive rights to develop and commercialize SPR2015 worldwide, with a potential value of up to $2.13 billion.
The upfront payment is $400 million, which will be included in Merck's third-quarter 2026 GAAP and non-GAAP results as a pre-tax charge of approximately $0.13 per share.
SPR2015 has shown nanomolar antiproliferative activity in KRAS G12D-mutant cell lines, with selectivity over cells carrying unmutated KRAS.
