Meta and YouTube Reverse Ad Rejections for Elon Musk Documentary
Meta and YouTube have reversed their decisions to reject paid ads for Alex Gibney's documentary 'Musk', which is set to be released on October 9. The film is a three-hour examination of Elon Musk's claims as a visionary genius and the harm he has caused in the world.
The reversal came after it was reported that both Google and Meta had initially refused to run ads for the documentary, citing system errors. YouTube said its decision not to run ads was 'temporarily restricted by our system' while Meta called it an 'error'.
However, after Bleecker Street, the studio behind the film, publicized the situation, both companies agreed to run the ads. The ads will reportedly start running on Saturday.
The reversal has been seen as a change of heart by both companies, with some speculating that it was due to pressure from Elon Musk's supporters and the negative publicity surrounding their initial decision.
