Meta Ditches Camera for Simpler Smart Glasses

Meta's AI smart glasses have been gaining popularity due to their traditional design and useful features. However, they are hitting the same wall of uneasiness that Google experienced over a decade ago when it launched its own camera-enabled glasses.

The public was not receptive to being filmed by strangers wearing Google Glass in 2012. In fact, a former colleague of one writer was even assaulted in a San Francisco bar while wearing them.

Meta's smart glasses have been more successful than Google's due to their AI capabilities and traditional design. However, the company is now reportedly working on a camera-free variant of its AI glasses, which would give customers more choices.
