MIAT Mongolian Airlines Nears New Boeing Aircraft Order

MIAT Mongolian Airlines is reportedly close to finalizing a new Boeing aircraft order, following a meeting between senior transport officials and a Boeing delegation. The talks centered on fleet, financing, and technical aspects of a potential deal.

The terms of the agreement remain confidential for now, with no information available on aircraft types, quantity, or deliveries. However, Mongolia's Minister of Roads and Transport, Borkhuugiin Delgersaikhan, highlighted the importance of new aircraft in supporting current market demand and improving connectivity between Asia and Europe.

MIAT currently operates a mixed fleet of Boeing jets, including one 737-8 at 7.6 years old and two 787-9 Dreamliners averaging 7.3 years old. The carrier has worked closely with Boeing for three decades, but financing will be a crucial component in securing the new contract.

Airbus is also in the running to supply aircraft to MIAT, with the carrier considering acquiring 10 Airbus jets. However, no final decision has been made on whether a split deal is possible or which manufacturer will ultimately secure the order.
