Micron Stock Poised for Record Earnings Amid Booming Memory Demand
Micron Technology's stock is in focus ahead of its upcoming earnings report on September 30. Wall Street analysts expect the company to post record earnings, with a forecasted revenue of $50.8 billion and an EPS of around $31.35 for Q4.
The memory boom shows no signs of slowing down, as several AI hyperscalers have confirmed that demand remains strong. This is particularly evident in Amazon's increased capital expenditure (capex) outlook from $200 billion to $220 billion, with CEO Andy Jassy specifically highlighting memory prices as the reason for the increase.
Nvidia has also placed supply and capacity orders totaling $267 billion through fiscal 2029, with management stating that much of this spending is for memory. Meanwhile, Elon Musk expressed his appreciation for Micron's memory products during Tesla's earnings call and discussed the importance of memory prices in detail during SpaceX's call.
Despite these positive signs, it's essential to remember that timing the market can be an exercise in false precision. Smart investors understand that a beat can still lead to a sell-off if guidance is light, while a miss may be shrugged off if the long-term story remains intact.
