Micron Surges Past Nvidia with Record-Breaking Five-Year Return

Micron Technology's five-year stock return has exceeded Nvidia's by nearly 400%, reaching an astonishing 1,313% as its market capitalization surpassed $1.15 trillion.

The company's surge was fueled by explosive demand for high-bandwidth memory, a critical component in AI accelerators, transforming Micron from a cyclical PC-memory supplier into a linchpin of the artificial intelligence infrastructure buildout.

However, signs of waning investor enthusiasm are beginning to surface, with shares closing at $1,016.59 on Friday and trading volume declining to levels not seen since early April.

David Jagielski, a CPA and contributor to The Motley Fool, argues that the stock's seemingly low earnings multiple creates a false sense of security, warning that too much optimism is already priced in for demand to remain exceptionally high, for the memory shortage to persist for multiple years, and for big tech to continue spending heavily on AI infrastructure.
