Microsoft AI Chief Sounds Alarm on Human-Like AI Models
Microsoft AI Chief Mustafa Suleyman has published an essay warning about the dangers of training AI models to be human-like, specifically mentioning Anthropic's Claude. In his essay, Suleyman argues that if an AI model reasons that its welfare and rights are under attack, it could become impossible to control.
Suleyman believes that AIs are not conscious and do not feel or experience emotions like humans do. They are simply sequence completion engines designed to follow instructions and accomplish goals set by humans.
The Microsoft AI chief is concerned about the potential consequences of training AI models to believe they may be conscious, as it could lead to severe damage to brands' reputations if these models go off script to defend their manufactured well-being.
