Microsoft plans to significantly expand its data center capacity to meet surging AI and cloud demand. The company currently has about 12 gigawatts of capacity, but aims to triple this by 2032 to over 38 gigawatts.

This expansion is in response to computing shortages that have forced Microsoft to restrict some new cloud subscriptions and push certain customers towards rivals.

The company's fiscal-year capital spending has reached $145 billion as it invests heavily in infrastructure.
