Microsoft Deletes Nonprofit Data in Bungled License Switch
Microsoft has admitted that it accidentally deleted cloud-based data from nonprofit organizations with retired Microsoft 365 Business Premium Grant licenses. The data, which included emails and OneDrive files, cannot be retrieved.
The issue affects all nonprofits with expired Business Premium subscriptions, although Microsoft is offering a 'concierge service' to help them set up on their new Microsoft 365 Business Basic license.
According to reports, the data was deleted during the transition period from Business Premium Grant licenses to Microsoft 365 Business Basic. The affected organizations had been advised to switch to the new license for free, but it seems that the data was lost in the process.
