Microsoft Ditches AMD from Surface PC Lineup
Microsoft Surface PCs have been available in various configurations for years, but one thing has always been missing - AMD chips. While Microsoft used to offer both Intel and AMD options with its Surface Laptop 3 in 2019, this was dropped after only two generations.
In an interview with Windows Central, Brett Ostrum, the CVP of Surface, explained why Microsoft doesn't use AMD chips in its current lineup. According to Ostrum, it's because the company has a 'limited portfolio' and can't accommodate both Intel and AMD at the same time.
This explanation raises questions about why Microsoft couldn't continue to offer both options after the release of the Surface Laptop 3. The answer remains unclear, but Ostrum insists that Microsoft 'loves working with AMD.'
