Microsoft Ditches Support for Older OneDrive Systems in August
Microsoft has announced that it will end support for older OneDrive systems on August 15, 2026. This means that businesses using OneDrive for cloud storage may face compatibility and security concerns if they continue to use these older systems.
The biggest change affects the OneDrive desktop app on computers running Windows 10 version 21H2 or earlier. While the app will still launch and sync, it won't receive new features, bug fixes, or security updates from Microsoft.
As a result, users may encounter sync failures, compatibility issues with newer Microsoft services, reduced reliability when sharing or accessing files, and increased exposure to security vulnerabilities that go unpatched.
