Microsoft has announced the general availability of native analytics capabilities in Azure Data Manager for Energy (ADME). This update introduces an analytics consumption zone (ACZ), which allows selected ADME data to be accessed in an open format compatible with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Databricks, Snowflake, and other platforms. The goal is to provide energy companies with greater flexibility to use governed energy data in their preferred analytics and AI environments.

ADME aims to bridge the gap between technical domain knowledge and operational, commercial, and enterprise data. By integrating these data sources, the platform supports better decision-making for recovery, production, capital efficiency, asset reliability, and operational risk management. The ACZ feature enables organizations to synchronize selected OSDU® data to their Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 environment in open Delta Parquet format, ensuring that teams work from the same governed data without needing custom pipelines for each use case.

The platform's vision extends beyond systems of record to systems of intelligence and action. Early deployments have seen teams using ADME data in Fabric to build ontologies and make domain context available to agentic solutions. This approach reduces redundancy and enhances scalability across various decisions and use cases. Additionally, an ADME MCP server, which provides AI agents with governed access to subsurface data, is now in preview, with domain intelligence capabilities like knowledge graphs on the roadmap.

Microsoft emphasizes the importance of connecting intelligence across technical, operational, and business decisions. The native analytics capabilities in ADME represent a step toward a reusable intelligence foundation that operators can extend across assets, portfolios, and use cases. The ultimate aim is to create a learning loop where each decision adds to the context available for the next, compounding intelligence over time.
