Microsoft Enhances Cloud Rebuild Feature with Automatic File Removal
Microsoft is continuing to refine its Cloud Rebuild feature in Windows 11. This cloud-based recovery option, first introduced on the Experimental Channel in July, allows for a full OS reinstall by downloading both the Windows image and device drivers from the Internet. With the latest Experimental build (26340.9502), users can now remove all files from their PC before reinstallation, thanks to a new 'remove & sanitize' option that ensures no data will be recoverable.
This feature is part of a broader effort to improve Windows 11's recovery and reinstall processes. Cloud Rebuild allows for faster and more efficient reinstallation of the operating system, without requiring users to manually back up their files or wipe their devices clean.
The same Experimental build also includes other minor updates, such as a new contrast theme toggle for lower-glare screens in Magnifier and a 'sleeker' animation for the Mouse indicator under accessibility settings. Additionally, the Live Captions feature has received a new setting to include Screen Reader audio, which is off by default.
