Microsoft has introduced new capabilities in its Scheduling Operations Agent for Dynamics 365 Field Service, offering a flexible approach to scheduling optimization. The latest update supports interactive, batch, and recurring scheduling methods, allowing teams to tailor their scheduling strategy to different scenarios.
For quick adjustments, dispatchers can use interactive optimizations to rearrange schedules for up to five resources at a time. This is ideal for handling last-minute changes, such as cancellations or urgent requests, without overhauling the entire schedule. The tool suggests improvements based on selected resources, open requirements, and scheduling goals, giving dispatchers control over the final adjustments.
When planning for an entire team or territory, batch optimization comes into play. Teams can define a scheduling plan that includes resources, open requirements, and existing bookings, then refine the plan through on-demand runs before automating it. Scheduling goals can be customized to prioritize objectives like high-priority work, resource utilization, or minimizing travel time.
Once a scheduling plan is refined and validated, it can be automated with recurrence. Teams can choose to run the plan automatically at set intervals, either with or without dispatcher approval. This ensures consistent scheduling without manual intervention, freeing up dispatchers to focus on other tasks.
