Microsoft Enriches SharePoint Data Exports with Graph Data Connect Update

Microsoft has expanded its Microsoft Graph Data Connect (MGDC) for SharePoint to provide richer information about sites that have been placed in read-only mode or archived. This update will now show fully populated rows and a more accurate ReadLocked signal, making it easier for enterprise IT teams to manage their SharePoint data.

The update does not change the schema, site coverage, or normal sites. The structure of the MGDC SharePoint Sites dataset remains the same, but the enrichment of rows that were previously partially populated will result in a one-time increase in the Delta due to the changes outlined above.

Graph Data Connect provides bulk access to Microsoft 365 data through Azure, allowing for high-volume scenarios involving large organizational datasets. The richer site-state information can improve reporting around SharePoint lifecycle management, retention automation, storage optimization, and Microsoft 365 governance.

This change will provide additional context for organizations building automation around these processes, enabling them to reconcile governance policies and provide downstream analytics systems with more accurate information about the status of stored content.
