Microsoft for Startups Customer Faces $16K Bill Due to Synchronization Issue
A Microsoft for Startups customer was left facing an unexpected bill of $16,000 after a synchronization issue between two portals showed different credit balances.
The company had signed up for the program, which offers credits and other resources to businesses building on Microsoft's platforms. However, when looking at the Founders Hub portal, the balance appeared healthy, showing plenty of credits remaining.
But a closer look at the Azure Sponsorships portal revealed that the credits had actually been exhausted in August, causing charges to mount quickly.
A Microsoft for Startups representative explained that the discrepancy was due to an 'ongoing synchronization issue between backend systems,' and that their engineering team was working on a resolution.
