Microsoft Launches $1 Million Grant Program for King County Nonprofits
Microsoft has launched a new program to support nonprofits in King County, Washington. The Community-First Grants will award $1 million worth of grants to eligible organizations that are working to meet crucial needs in their communities.
The first round of applications is open through October 23, 2026, and is limited to King County-based organizations. Nonprofits can apply for funding to launch, expand, improve or complete projects that benefit their communities, such as repairing or modernizing facilities, establishing transitional housing, or expanding learning opportunities.
Microsoft's senior director of Philanthropies, Jane Broom, said 'Nonprofits serve as the backbone for much of King County, bringing people together and delivering resources to improve the quality of life.' The grants are part of Microsoft's ongoing commitment to invest in organizations that help Washington communities thrive. To date, Microsoft has given $1.9 billion to nearly 13,000 nonprofits statewide.
The Community-First Grants will support projects across four focus areas: Civic Life, Education and Workforce Development, Housing, Human Services and Basic Needs, and Sustainability and Transportation. Nonprofits can learn more about the program and apply at aka.ms/community-first-grants.
