Microsoft is revamping its consumer and commercial Copilot AI assistants into a single 'super app' interface. This unified app, called Microsoft Copilot, will combine the best features of both personal and work accounts. Existing users will be moved to the new app, which will feature an updated icon and minor navigation changes for those who already use the Microsoft 365 Copilot app.

The update is a technical milestone in preparation for the 'super app' that Microsoft plans to launch later this year. The company says that chats and content from both personal and work accounts will be merged into the new app, but users can still switch between their Microsoft account (personal) and Microsoft Entra ID (work or school) accounts.

The unified Copilot app will retain core capabilities for free, although some users may see different usage limits in the updated app. However, not all features will be carried over to the new app, podcasts and Deep Research are being retired, while Group Chat threads, messages, and content won't be available after August 18th.
