Microsoft has merged its two Copilot apps into a single entity, streamlining its app ecosystem and making the entire experience more cohesive for both consumer and business users.

The new unified Copilot app brings together the features of the original consumer app and Microsoft 365 Copilot, allowing users to access their productivity software alongside the chatbot's image generation capabilities.

However, some features have been removed from the old apps as part of the merger. Podcasts and Group Chat will no longer be available in the new app, while Deep Research has been replaced by the Researcher feature for Microsoft 365 Premium subscribers.

The rollout of the unified Copilot app began on Thursday, with mobile and web versions leading the way, followed by an early-access option for Windows and Mac users ahead of a broader desktop rollout expected in mid-September.
