Microsoft Mixed Signals: Copilot+ PCs Axed, Surface Mouse Revived

Microsoft's Surface and Windows event scheduled for next month has been generating a lot of buzz, but it was the company's recent announcements that sent mixed signals to its customers. The tech giant confirmed two new Surface PCs, the Surface Pro 12-inch and Surface Laptop 13-inch, which will not be branded as Copilot+ PCs.

This decision is surprising given that both devices meet the requirements for the Copilot+ PC label, but Microsoft seems to be going in a different direction. The company's failure to clearly communicate what makes a Copilot+ PC special has been criticized by many, and the Surface Pro 12-inch and Laptop 13-inch are being released under their own brand.

But that's not all, Microsoft is also reviving the Surface Mouse with a fresh design and haptics. The redesigned mouse will be available later this month with a soft-touch finish and tactile-yet-quiet buttons, marking a significant update to the original.

The Copilot+ PC brand has been plagued by confusion, with many customers unsure what made these devices special. However, Microsoft is now shifting its focus to the broader Copilot platform, which CEO Satya Nadella described as 'a new OS.'
