Microsoft, Nvidia Unveil Plans for Next-Gen PCs at October 7 Event
Microsoft has scheduled a major event for October 7 in San Francisco to discuss the future of PCs and local AI. The event will feature Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Windows and Devices Executive Vice President Pavan Davuluri, and Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang.
The agenda includes discussions on the latest innovations across Windows, Nvidia RTX Spark, Surface, and the PC ecosystem. This marks Microsoft's first large Windows presentation in over two years, following its previous event in May 2024, where it introduced Arm-based Copilot+ PCs and renewed its work with Qualcomm on Windows PCs.
Nvidia's RTX Spark is a system-on-chip for Windows PCs that can run AI workloads locally. It combines a Blackwell RTX GPU and Grace CPU, offering up to one petaflop of FP4 AI performance and up to 128GB of unified memory. Microsoft has been developing Project Solara, a platform for agent-driven computing, which was introduced at Build 2026.
The event also comes as Windows development remains centered on Windows 11, with Microsoft confirming Windows 11 26H2 as its next annual update and planning to distribute it through an enablement package later this year. Huang separately discussed AI and cybersecurity during the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference in San Francisco on September 10.
