Microsoft Office User Ditches Subscription for Lifetime License
A Microsoft Office user decided to opt out of paying for the annual Microsoft 365 subscription and purchased Microsoft Office Home & Business 2021 for Mac instead, which includes familiar productivity apps with a one-time purchase. The user discovered that lifetime licenses were available for $42.97 through August 23, significantly cheaper than the usual price of $219.
The user needed Word and Excel around, but not badly enough to justify another recurring bill, so they decided to go with the one-time payment option. After purchasing, they received a download link and activation code, allowing them to access Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and OneNote without any fees.
The user is now set for life, as they will never have to pay another dime for these apps unless they change computers. This decision comes after Microsoft recently increased its subscription price from $7/month to $10/month, causing the user to reevaluate their options.
