Microsoft Poised to Overtake Apple in Value by 2027
Microsoft and Apple have long been tech titans, but a notable valuation gap exists today. Apple, with a market capitalization of around $4.9 trillion, is currently more highly valued than Microsoft, which stands at $3.9 trillion. Despite this, analysts predict Microsoft could surpass Apple in value by the end of 2027.
Microsoft's growth prospects, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI), are seen as underrated. The company's Microsoft 365 revenue grew by 24% in the last quarter, with its AI-powered Microsoft 365 Copilot reaching 30 million paid seats. Azure, Microsoft's cloud computing service, also reported a strong 43% growth rate, while commercial cloud revenue increased by 14%. These metrics suggest robust growth potential in multiple areas.
In contrast, Apple's AI strategy is considered less compelling, and its valuation appears riskier. Trading at 38 times earnings, Apple faces higher expectations compared to Microsoft, which trades at 29 times earnings. Analysts believe Microsoft's lower valuation and strong AI-related revenue growth could drive its stock higher, while Apple's rich valuation might lead to a pullback.
The prediction is that by the end of 2027, Microsoft will become the more valuable tech company, driven by its AI innovations and attractive valuation.
