Microsoft Pushes Legacy Whiteboard Migration Deadline to October 16

Microsoft has extended the deadline for customers to migrate their legacy Whiteboard technology from Azure-based files to OneDrive-backed whiteboards.

The original deletion date was set for August 22, but Microsoft has pushed it back to October 16, 2026. The migration tooling for legacy enterprise whiteboards will be retired on September 25, and the standalone Microsoft Whiteboard app will be deprecated on November 30.

According to Microsoft, moving these files to OneDrive improves security, accessibility, revision history, eDiscovery, and access to current and future Whiteboard features. The company has not commented on why it moved the deadlines.
