Microsoft Relents: Taskbar Now Movable, Bing Search Optional

Microsoft has finally relented to user feedback and reversed its decision to lock the taskbar in place on Windows 11. The new update, scheduled for next Tuesday, will allow users to move the taskbar to the left, right, or top edge of the screen, as well as shrink it to free up more screen real estate.

The company is also addressing another long-standing complaint by adding an option to turn off Bing search results in the Start menu, effectively limiting searches to local files. This feature will be available through Settings > Privacy & Security > Search.

Additionally, Microsoft is introducing a new utility called Window Hopper as part of its PowerToys package, which allows users to switch between windows within an application using the Alt+` keyboard shortcut. This feature is already available in the latest version of PowerToys (0.101).
