Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) is undergoing significant changes in its financial reporting structure to reflect the impact of artificial intelligence on its business. The company's CEO, Satya Nadella, stated that AI represents a 'profound shift' in both technology and business.

In FY27, Microsoft will transition from three reporting segments to two: Agents and Infra, and Devices and Consumer. The new structure aims to provide increased transparency to investors by mirroring how the business operates and allocates resources.

The Agents and Infra segment brings together high-value apps and agents, including Microsoft 365 and GitHub, as well as global-scale Azure infrastructure. This integrated architecture is designed to engage with customers and drive their outcomes across every layer of the stack.

Microsoft plans to invest over $50 billion in capital expenditures (capex) in FY27 Q1 as it reorganizes around AI. The company aims to ensure that AI empowers every person, amplifying their agency and ambition, and leading to broad-based economic growth.
