Microsoft Silent on Community Benefits Proposal for Indiana Data Center

A coalition of Indiana faith communities and community organizations has asked Microsoft to contribute 1 cent on every dollar of project costs for its planned data center in Granger, Indiana. The group, known as We Make Indiana, made this request through a formal proposal called the Fair Share Agreement.

The proposal would be legally enforceable and generate approximately $30 million to $40 million annually for community programs. Priority areas include health care, child care, elder care, transportation, affordable housing, environmental protection, energy use, and workforce development.

Microsoft has not committed to the agreement and says investment decisions have not been finalized. The company claims it is still engaging with other community leaders as part of its community-listening process.
