Microsoft Stock Sees Wild Fluctuations Amid Expectations of Strong Earnings
Microsoft's stock price has seen significant fluctuations over the past year. While it fell by 2% over 12 months, the company saw a nearly 45% increase in just three months since hitting its 52-week low on June 25.
Fundamental analysis suggests that Microsoft is poised for growth, with analysts expecting $4.27 in GAAP earnings per share and revenue of approximately $90.7 billion in its fiscal Q1 earnings report, representing a 3.4% increase in earnings per share and 16.8% rise in revenue compared to the previous year.
However, technical analysis paints a more complex picture. The stock's chart shows a double-bottom pattern of bullish reversal that formed from late 2025 to late July, but this was followed by a minor sell-off due to a small double-top pattern of bearish reversal in August.
Despite this, the stock has shown signs of recovery, with swing traders potentially supporting it at its 21-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA) in mid-September. Additionally, the algorithmic boost from a 'golden crossover' of the company's 200-day Simple Moving Average (SMA) by its 50-day SMA in late August could contribute to its growth.
