Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 3 Review: Lightweight Design but Lacking in Key Areas

Microsoft's Surface Laptop Go 3 has been put through its paces by Mashable's East Coast Tech Editor, Kimberly Gedeon. The laptop, which starts at $799, is designed for casual users, such as students and frequent travelers who need a lightweight PC.

Gedeon notes that the laptop's weight of 2.49 pounds and slimness of 0.62 inches make it an ideal choice for those on-the-go. The four muted color options - Sage, Ice Blue, Platinum, and Sandstone - are also a plus in her book, with Sage being her personal favorite.

The keyboard on the Surface Laptop Go 3 is a highlight for Gedeon, who praises its snappy and springy keys as better than those found on the $1,999 Surface Laptop Studio 2. However, she takes issue with the laptop's processor, which is a 12th Gen Intel Core i5-1235U CPU, considered a generation behind current offerings.

Gedeon also criticizes the laptop's 720p HD camera, describing it as 'fuzzy, noisy and blurry.' She recommends using an external webcam for video calls. The display is also dim, with only 320 nits of brightness, making it difficult to see in bright environments.
