Microsoft Teams with Saudi Arabia for Regional AI Push
Microsoft is expanding its artificial intelligence (AI) footprint in the Middle East through a new long-term partnership with Saudi Arabia's HUMAIN. HUMAIN, sponsored by the Public Investment Fund, aims to speed up the adoption of enterprise AI across Saudi Arabia and the wider Middle East and Africa region.
A key component of the work will be developing Arabic-language AI models. This is significant as it would make AI tools more effective for government, corporate, and consumer use in the region. The deal also bolsters Microsoft's position in one of the most aggressive AI investment markets globally.
Saudi Arabia is pouring money into data centers, processors, and AI infrastructure to build a more resilient digital sector and reduce its reliance on oil. The opportunity for Microsoft is clear: as AI adoption grows in enterprises in the region, so does the demand for cloud computing, models, and software.
