Microsoft is hosting its first laptop-focused event in over two years, highlighting how local AI will shape the future of PCs. The company’s Windows and Surface event features a keynote address expected to be led by CEO Satya Nadella, with potential announcements about the official release date of the Surface Laptop Ultra.
The Surface Laptop Ultra, showcased earlier at Computex, is powered by Nvidia’s RTX Spark chip and is designed for high-performance tasks like AI development. The laptop is positioned as a premium device for developers, engineers, and creators, potentially competing with Apple’s MacBook Pro line. Key uncertainties include the price and release date, which are anticipated to be revealed during the event.
In addition to the Surface Laptop Ultra, Microsoft has already unveiled the 12-inch Surface Pro (2nd Edition) and 13-inch Surface Laptop (2nd Edition), both powered by Snapdragon X2 series processors. These new devices feature improved battery life and camera enhancements, reflecting advancements in mobile silicon technology.
The event is being streamed on YouTube, starting at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET, with appearances from Microsoft and Nvidia executives. CNET is providing live updates from the event in San Francisco.
