Microsoft's Patch Tuesday Fix Fails to Fix Copy-Paste Bug
A recent update to Microsoft's Patch Tuesday has caused issues for some Excel users, including a bug that breaks copy and paste functionality.
The problem was introduced with the September update, which included nearly 1,000 security fixes. However, it also brought several bugs to the operating system, including issues with Hyper-V Linux folder shares, Remote Desktop freezes, and USB audio failures.
Microsoft released an out-of-band update to address these problems, but the fix for Excel's copy-paste bug is currently limited to Excel 2016. The company notes that if a workbook contains conditional formatting paste operations may continue to fail, and advises users to use the 'Paste Special' feature as a workaround.
Microsoft is still investigating the issue and hopes to provide broader fixes soon. In the meantime, users can follow the steps outlined in a support document to resolve the problem.
