Mixed Finish for Major Stock Indexes Amidst Wobbly Trading
Wall Street ended Tuesday's session with mixed results as major stock indexes closed out a wobbly day of trading.
The S&P 500 managed to rise 0.2% after fluctuating between small gains and losses throughout the day, coming off two consecutive drops following last Thursday's record high.
Banks and energy companies contributed to the gains, with JPMorgan Chase rising 2.4% and Devon Energy increasing by 5.6%, while household goods companies also saw an uptick.
However, losses in technology and communication stocks tempered these gains, as did a mix of companies reliant on consumer spending.
