MN8 Energy and Google Team Up on West Virginia Solar-Storage Project
MN8 Energy is teaming up with Google and Eos Energy Enterprises to develop the Mammoth Solar project in Kanawha County, West Virginia. This large-scale solar-storage project will combine 86 MW of utility-scale solar power with 70 MW / 280 MWh of lithium-ion battery storage.
Eos will also provide an additional 10 MW / 100 MWh of Z3 zinc-based long-duration storage, which can discharge for up to 10 hours. This innovative technology is expected to play a key role in stabilizing the grid and providing reliable clean energy.
The project will supply the PJM grid, which serves Google's regional data centers, including a planned facility in West Virginia. Solar operations are expected to begin in 2028, followed by lithium-ion storage in 2029 and zinc-based storage in 2030.
