MN8, Google, Eos Launch West Virginia Clean Energy Project
A joint project between MN8 Energy, Eos Energy Enterprises, and Google aims to deliver clean energy resources to the PJM grid in West Virginia. The facility will combine solar power with advanced energy storage to support increasing demand in the region.
The Mammoth Solar project, located in Kanawha County, will have a total capacity of 86MW of utility-scale solar and 120MWh of combined storage. Eos' Z3 zinc-based long-duration energy storage system is designed to provide up to ten hours of storage.
Google will purchase the energy, capacity, and clean energy attributes from the project, which is estimated to involve around $350m in capital investment. The project is expected to generate approximately 200 jobs during construction and millions more in property tax revenue for the county and local schools over the next 20-40 years.
