OneDrive Backup Now Opt-Out Friendly in Windows Setup

Microsoft's OneDrive has been a polarizing feature in Windows, useful for some but annoying for others. Its aggressive backup capabilities can clog internet bandwidth and count against ISP data caps.

A recent change allows users to opt out of Windows Backup via OneDrive during the out-of-the-box setup process, rather than after three days as before.

OneDrive is a cloud storage service that comes with Microsoft 365 subscriptions, offering at least a terabyte of online storage. It can also back up files and settings, but its backup function can be intrusive and require constant management.

The new change gives users more control over OneDrive's behavior, allowing them to turn off backup capabilities or limit what files are synced with the cloud.
