Moderna Shares Soar 93% on Breakthrough Melanoma Therapy Results
Moderna's stock surged by 93% to $121.76 in early trading Wednesday after the company announced that its Phase 3 melanoma trial met its primary endpoint.
The trial, conducted with partner Merck, tested a personalized mRNA cancer therapy called Intismeran Autogene alongside Merck's immunotherapy Keytruda.
Dean Y. Li, President of Merck Research Laboratories, said the results reinforce 'the promise of a more personalized approach to cancer treatment.'
The combination produced statistically significant and clinically meaningful improvements in recurrence-free survival and distant metastasis-free survival compared with Keytruda alone.
