Moderna Stock Soars 9% as Melanoma Study Wins Prestigious Symposium Slot
Moderna's stock price surged 9% on Monday after the company announced that its Phase 3 adjuvant melanoma study for intismeran autogene, an investigational messenger RNA individualized neoantigen therapy, was selected for a Presidential Symposium slot at the European Society for Medical Oncology congress in Madrid.
The stock price of $167.90 is up significantly from its previous level, and it has been repriced around this one clinical program over the past few weeks.
Moderna's partner on intismeran autogene is Merck, which supplies pembrolizumab, the checkpoint inhibitor combined with the vaccine in the study. Merck stock is up 1%, but not to the same extent as Moderna.
The selection for a Presidential Symposium slot indicates that the congress organizers expect the data from this study to have significant implications for clinical practice. The presentation of the Phase 3 dataset is scheduled for October 24, and Moderna will host a live investor webcast on the same day.
