Morgan State Taps Google's GPAR for Research Capacity Boost
Morgan State University and Google Public Sector have formed a collaboration to expand research capacity using Google's Program for Accelerated Research (GPAR). The partnership will provide high-performance GPU compute resources to support research areas including AI, cybersecurity, climate science, and health sciences.
The university's Obsidian AI platform will maintain control over governance, security, and accountability while Google supplies underlying computing capacity and cloud services. Researchers will use GPAR and Google Cloud platforms along with NVIDIA infrastructure to advance their work in these fields.
Morgan State aims to achieve Carnegie R1 classification by building the infrastructure and partnerships needed to compete at the highest levels of research and discovery. The university plans to establish a Center of Excellence for cloud computing, AI adoption, workforce development, and technical training with Google's support.
