MTN Foundation Empowers Young Women Entrepreneurs Through ICT Training Programme

The MTN Foundation has introduced a new phase of its ICT and Business Skills Training Programme, targeting young women entrepreneurs in six Nigerian states. This is the first female-only cohort in the programme's history.

With over 15,362 participants trained across 29 states and the Federal Capital Territory since the programme began, Phase 8 aims to equip 3,000 young women aged 18-35 with digital and business skills. The selected women run micro-businesses not older than two years.

The initiative has provided equipment grants to 1,100 participants in the past, with Odunayo Sanya, executive director of MTN Foundation, stating that it is a dedicated platform for young women to strengthen their businesses and take advantage of opportunities in the digital economy. The programme brings together ecosystem partners including Oracle, KPMG, IBM, DBI, Cisco, Google, Meta, and Microsoft.

The training will consist of five weeks of blended learning, followed by expert-led masterclasses and practical activities. The top 100 participants will each receive a ₦1 million equipment grant, while continued access to the MTN Skills Academy will support learning beyond the programme.
