Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) has partnered with IBM to develop a state-of-the-art cybersecurity training facility. The $5.6 million MTSU Cyber Range, set to open in January 2027, will provide a realistic virtual environment for students and professionals to practice responding to cyberattacks.

The facility, funded by the state and industry partners, will be housed on the first floor of the Miller Education Center on Bell Street in Murfreesboro. The MTSU Cyber Range will feature a theater, observation room, faculty offices, and breakout rooms, utilizing AWS and Cloud Range technologies to create an immersive virtual environment.

According to MTSU President Sidney A. McPhee, 'This really addresses a workforce need. It also shows the partnership that the university has with some of the best corporate entities in the world, like IBM and our industry partners within the community.'
