Musk Endorses Nvidia Over AMD Citing Superior Architecture
Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has publicly endorsed Nvidia as his preferred choice for computing units over AMD. During SpaceX's Q2 conference call, Musk stated that his companies would be building exclusively on Nvidia due to its superior Vera Rubin architecture.
The Vera Rubin architecture provides a tenfold reduction in inference token cost and a fourfold decrease in the number of GPUs required to train an AI model compared to Nvidia's Blackwell architecture. This means that AI firms could accomplish the same amount of work with fewer GPUs, making Nvidia's technology more efficient.
Nvidia outperformed AMD by every measure in recent results, with total revenue rising 106% and data center revenue increasing 117%. Additionally, Nvidia is significantly cheaper than AMD, trading at nearly three times a lower price tag. Despite this, Musk believes that Nvidia's superior technology makes it the better choice.
The Motley Fool analyst Keithen Drury suggests that investors swap their AMD shares for Nvidia due to its faster growth and lower stock price.
