Nadella's $96.5 Million Pay Package Reflects Microsoft's AI-Fueled Growth
Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT), received a record-breaking $96.5 million pay package in fiscal 2025, reflecting the company's strong performance in AI and cloud services.
The total compensation increase of 22% from $79.1 million to $96.5 million is the highest since Nadella became CEO in 2014. This growth is largely attributed to Microsoft's exceptional progress in artificial intelligence, with revenue up about 15%, operating income up 17%, and cloud revenue up 23% to nearly $169 billion.
Nadella's pay structure consists of a base salary of only $2.5 million, with around $9.5 million as a cash bonus and the remaining $84 million in stock awards tied directly to Microsoft's share price performance.
The majority of Nadella's compensation is equity-based, with over 95% being performance-based and at least 70% consisting of long-term metrics such as total shareholder return relative to the S&P 500, Microsoft incentive plan revenue, Azure and other cloud services revenue, and Microsoft Cloud revenue.
