Nammu21 has partnered with Google Cloud to automate syndicated loans using the Google Cloud Universal Ledger (GCUL). The fintech firm leverages its AI-powered platform to convert legal loan agreements into smart contracts, streamlining the entire loan lifecycle. This innovation addresses long-standing inefficiencies in the syndicated loan market, such as slow settlement times and valuation opacity, which currently average 42 days for secondary market transactions.
The proof-of-concept models a $1.945 billion Term Loan B, demonstrating how GCUL can create a single, immutable source of truth for all parties involved. Nammu21's platform transforms bespoke credit documents into Digital Credit Instruments (DCIs), which are then executed as programmable contracts on GCUL. This process ensures that every action complies with the original loan agreement, reducing counterparty risk and operational overhead.
GCUL's permissioned distributed ledger provides near-instant transaction finality and robust privacy controls, making it ideal for institutional finance. The platform uses gculpy, a domain-optimized programming language, to write contracts that are safe, readable, and auditable. This architecture eliminates the need for external payment rails by settling transactions directly on the ledger using tokenized commercial bank money.
The collaboration between Nammu21 and Google Cloud represents a structural shift in credit markets, potentially unlocking new liquidity and improving market efficiency. By automating complex financial workflows, the proof-of-concept paves the way for faster settlements, reduced back-office overhead, and mitigated counterparty risk.
