New Jersey Attorney General Jennifer Davenport announced on Tuesday that her office has filed a lawsuit against Amazon, alleging that the retail giant is exploiting its independent delivery drivers through its Delivery Service Partner program.

The state accuses Amazon of exerting control over every aspect of the DSP program, from hiring to scheduling, resulting in artificially low pay and poor working conditions for drivers.

New Jersey is not alone in its concerns about Amazon's labor practices. In 2023, the state joined 16 others in suing the company over anticompetitive and unfair strategies.
