New York Stocks Fall for Third Consecutive Session Amid Tech and Semiconductor Sell-Off
New York stocks continued their downward trend for the third consecutive session on the 18th, pressured by selling in technology and semiconductor shares.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down 0.22% at 53,343.40, while the S&P 500 fell 0.69% to 7,691.76, and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 1.33% to 26,289.71.
The semiconductor sector took a significant hit, with the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index plummeting 4.98%, led by South Korea's SK Hynix ADR tumbling 9.20% and Micron falling 7.02%.
Meta dropped 4.45%, but Apple and Microsoft gained ground, highlighting divergence within big tech.
